There’s something deeply nourishing about slow-burn romances.
Wondering about what it was, especially since ‘Moon Petals’ (an absolute must for slow-burn story lovers), I came to the tentative conclusion that it was about growing love like a perennial plant. It needed time to take root but then it would follow its natural growth process.
Of course, as in this story, there was uncertainty and doubts if it’d make it, if it was a perennial indeed or a ‘it’s all in your head’ scenario.
Against some embarrassing and awkward odds, love in this story grew as it must (after taking root like a perennial) and then it was like it was always been there, the most natural thing in sight.
That’s another thing I realized – ‘natural’ didn’t mean unintentional or worse, random or taken for granted
Rather, it meant care and attention to the other so love would grow, like the perennial, almost imperceptibly until two years had passed and then it was impossible to miss that it was here to stay.
All ‘what ifs’ and ‘maybes’ dissipated in this new love that also felt so familiar because it was growing there quietly and patiently all this time.
