This is my all-time favorite story — I’ve read it at least five times already, and I know I’ll return to it again and again. There’s something so captivating about it that I simply can’t resist being swept away by this beautiful imagined reality, a version of events that feels so vivid and possible that it stays with me long after I finish reading.
This was one of the most impactful stories I read here. It was also one of the first ones.
There’s something about it. Perhaps something wholesome in that vulnerability of acknowledging one’s true feelings even when it was scary and complicated. I hadn’t realized before the intense anxiety denied feelings could engender.
Most of all, it’s a sensitively written story that takes you on a most emotionally rewarding journey that gets better with every reread. That’s in order to notice more and take in more and hopefully return from that journey a bit braver.
