One reading doesn’t do this story justice.
What stood out most to me was that it highlighted something that is not often brought up.
It’s more common to see stories about obstacles before the relationship or about fears of losing the other.
Not so much about willingly leaving a destined soul connection because of self-doubt and insecurities.
And yet, the latter is no less real. It sounds illogical to want to get away from a good thing, from your innermost wishes fulfilled.
But fear and doubt are distorted mirrors and this is what this story makes right in its own gently meandering way.
Traces indeed. Of destiny.
