This story is so domestic and heartwarming, but also frustrating, sad and painful as they think back to their military life. I love the way you wrote this with them being comfortable and happy at home and able to work through all this feelings and frustrations they felt in the barracks and then deciding to be selfish this coming year and trust and chose themselves first.
